Get it? Like bed time, but it's actually time for BLOG EVERY DAY IN DECEMBERRRRR!!!! *fanfare*
Today's a Saturday which means I made an impressive to-do list this morning and accomplished maybe 10% of it before declaring Saturday as my weekly day of rest and re-watching 30 Rock. I can never decide whether I love or hate Saturdays. Do I adore their late starts, lack of scheduling, and overflow of possibility... Or do I abhor their abundant disappointments?
I predict that this blog will often seem like "the diaries of a lazy perfectionist," (In fact, that would probably be a better blog title... But I couldn't resist the Dumbledore quote.) because that's usually what I usually complain about, plus this acts as a very welcome source of procrastination. But can you even fathom how hard it is to be me? I set extremely high standards for myself, despite the fact that I know I'm faaar too lazy to ever reach them. Strumming aimlessly on my ukulele, stalking my ex-boyfriend's boring Facebook, and re-reading The Great Gatsby for a class assignment due weeks from now is just soooo much more interesting than the chores and homework with actual looming deadlines I'm supposed to be getting done.
Sarcasm and run-on sentences aside, (insert overall point of blogpost made with witticisms and accurate metaphors here).
Welp. I've been staring at this blog post for the majority of the afternoon (translation: I left this tab open while browsing more entertaining parts of the internet), and I'm just going to call it a day. I'm actually satisfied with this half-hearted start of a blogging project because even if I don't manage to create something I'm wild about every single day, I'm seriously enjoying the feeling of my fingers clacking against these keys, music playing, and tea brewing. It's helping me cope with the excessive darkness pressing in my windows, and the oppressive and anxiety-inducing feelings I get from my least favorite season. I told my mom I started a blog, and her response was, "Everyone's blogging these days! I don't think anyone's actually reading anyone else's blog." Thanks to my few kind commenters, I know she's wrong-- there are at least three people reading this! I'm basically an internet sensation!!!
But follower/commenter count aside, my immediate response was: so? Spewing my thoughts into the universe makes me extremely happy, so I'll do it. If no one wants to read it, I don't exactly blame them. Two blog posts and I already feel a bit more satisfied with the hours I waste on the internet. Vlogging enriched my life so much, so I'm excited to take an awkward step backwards and start this adventure. AAaaaand well uhm alright, I'll admit it... blogging is just a matter of typing out my internal monologue and that totally makes me feel like Carrie Bradshaw and the really bland main character whose name I can't remember on MTV's Awkward.

Days left of BEDD: 30
Currently: Trying to decide whether to rent Spiderman or The Avengers. I haven't seen either, (I KNOW I KNOW I'M A BAD NERD. But I've never been all that into comic books! I love Batman passionately but he's the exception. And X-Men growing up... But I fell asleep watching Captain American and Thor, and thought Iron Man was only so-so. Plus, I have a childhood issue with all things Spiderman. You know what? This parenthetical endnote is long enough, all my comic book issues will definitely be tomorrow's topic.) but I'm leaning toward Spiderman. The fact that I have a crush on Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone may end up beating out my burning love for every project Joss Whedon touches. Plus, this way I can stay blissfully ignorant of what the heck the Loki fangirls are going on about...
Jenna. Her name is Jenna. I fully embrace the pathetic uselessness of knowing this fact.
ReplyDeleteHi Abby, it's Colin! Just to be clear I do read your blog, comment on it, and follow it! You should probably tell your mom that someone actually does these things on your blog...because I do! :) and just to be clear I would like to say that I am extremely fond of how you are doing this blog! So don't let anyone make you stop it because I am totally interested in it!
ReplyDeleteAnyway (I hate it when people say anyways because anyways isn't a word!) on your conflict of avengers or Spider-Man I, even though I LOVE the avengers, think you should watch Spider-Man! I also like Emma Stone and Andrew Garfeild, and I think there interpretation on Spider-Man was AMAZING!
Also good luck on your college application! Please update me on how it is going! I would like to know! I hope all of our comments helped you!
Procrastination on the Internet is fun isn't it! (I kind do it all the time and according to you you to all the time)
Blog you later!
Sincerely,
Colin
I felt that I should leave you a comment to let you know that at least one other person is reading this. I’ve never commented on anyone’s blog before though, so I’m not even sure how this all works. I’m actually rather nervous about leaving this comment. I’m really worried that I’ll sound like a complete loon. However, I shall carry on.
ReplyDeleteI actually asked you a question on Tumblr once. I think that it was about elements. I’m not sure. I really appreciate the fact that you answered though. I’d never actually asked anyone a question on there before, so I was a little confused. So, thank you. Gosh, I sound like a complete moron. Really sorry about that.
Umm, what else can I say? I’m not really sure. I’ve never really read anyone’s blog before, but I like yours so far. You seem like an awesome person and I find you quite interesting. I find many of the things you say quite fascinating and... yeah. I’m gonna stop this section right now because I know that I’m starting to sound a little bit loony. I really don’t want to freak you out or annoy you. Umm, yeah.
As for the ‘Spider-Man’ vs. ‘The Avengers’ situation, I would go for Spider-Man. Just because. I haven’t seen either of the films though, so I can’t really help you. Sorry. I suppose that you could flip a coin. Heads for ‘The Avengers’ and tails for ‘Spider-Man’. The great thing about flipping a coin is that if you’re disappointed when it lands on heads, you know that you really wanted it to land on tails. Maybe if you’re struggling to decide, you could try that?
I hope that all makes sense. It’s 3 in the morning here and my brain is kind of tired and all of the words are getting muddled up on the page. Kind of weird. I really hope that there aren’t any spelling mistakes in this. If there are, I hope that they are only small ones.
Anyway, I should probably end this here as it already feels too long. I often ramble and I sometimes struggle to stop talking. It’s rather difficult. Even at 3 in the morning. So, yeah.
How do I end this? Honestly, I’ve never done this before so I don’t know what to do. Do I just leave? Am I supposed to say goodbye or something? Seriously, I sound like an idiot. Ugh.
Umm, goodbye?
P.S. I hope that this didn't seem rude.
Hey, I read your blog!
ReplyDeleteAnyone reading this should seriously consider taking a look at my blog, because I am also doing BEDD (I'm not copying, I'm simply walking in the footsteps of one great YouTuber.)
Thank you, I love you, that is all.
Your blog is as perfect as your vlogs. You're like an inspiration to me. I know you don't really have the whole blogger thing under control either, but if you see this, I'm trying to do B.E.D.D too! If you looked at mine that would be fantastic. kingofcountry.tumblr.com
ReplyDeleteA weekend or two ago I was tossing up between The Avengers and Spiderman, and I choose the later because I like the two ... Well, actually all the actors in Spiderman. To be honest, I got a bit bored by the plot, especially the last fight sequence, but I did enjoy the love story and the chemistry between the lead actors - I thought he was cute, and she was refreshing. And I loved the sweet kind of awkwardness between them.
ReplyDeleteIf you saw it, I hope you enjoyed it!
I shall be reading your blog. It's as awesome as your channel on You Tube. Spider-man is my favourite, although I've not seen the latest one. My other half and I like the Tobey Maguire ones (we saw Spidey 2 with Doc Oc on our first date at the IMAX), but the increasing use of 3-D in cinemas of late has put us off going to the cinema as much as we used to.
ReplyDeleteI've been blogging on LiveJournal for around 9 years on and off. Sometimes I don't post anything for weeks. It all depends on what is going on in my life, and it's friend-list-locked so it isn't public.
